Jeremy Moon and David Taggart, Rowan Gallery 1963

Jeremy Moon’s work is of a very different order. His concerns are urban and environmental; signs and emblems are placed simply on the canvas, and often unexpected colour relationships give an ambiguous presence to his canvases.

In one or two instances his images reveal their sources in slightly older ‘Situation’ painters, but many canvases, notably Red Chord and Eclipse stand out as fresh and powerful concepts.

This is an altogether impressive debut for two young artists exhibiting for the first time.
